Shakespeare’s ‘To Be or Not to Be’ soliloquy, inspired some thoughts on change in the workscape:
To change or not to change, that is the question:
Whether ’tis wiser in plans to stick
With the status quo
Or to implement fresh ideas in a sea of disruptions
And by tackling them: to innovate, to make a difference
Much more; and by leadership, to say we end
The ache, and the thousand Natural shocks
That the 21st century workplace is heir to? ‘Tis an aspiration
Devoutly to be wished. To shape, to be,
To be meaningful, perchance to Design; aye, there’s the rub,
For in that being, what dreams may come,
When we have shaken the place of our work,
Must give us engaged and energised people.
Be all their potentiality made manifest.
William Shakespeare instigated much change in what he did and inspired for others from his own workscape over 400 years ago. Worth a moment or two of reflection!

I believe this should be called ‘the Palmer effect’ imagine a world where we were all taught to embrace change rather than fear it. In fact imagine a world where we could see change as art and therefore it be a fun and worthy experience. Now there is something worth aspiring for. Thanks Helen – love the rub..
